Does anyone know what the market is like for Anchorage,AK ? I've been recruited by Aflac here but prior to starting I have to take and pass my tests before any real training begins. I've never been in sales or the insurance business, however I'm really excited about this opportunity but very skeptical at the same time.

If there are living people to talk to, there is a market for AFLAC's supplemental benefits. Weather conditions are probably a bigger challenge.

Thanks for the reply.
Weather isn't an issue-assuming you speak of traveling. I've been told Anchorage & Alaska has a lot to offer in regards to the untapped market in this field. I just don't want to waste my time nor my $$ if it's just a pipe dream with someone blowin smoke up that pipe. Again- I'm super excited about the opportunity yet remain very skeptical.

Cast your skepticism aside and remain enthusiastic. Insurance sales is not EASY, but it is simple. You "get paid" for the NOs you receive -- the more NOs you are exposed to, the more YES responses you will get.
Any experienced agent will tell you that t's all "in the numbers". Make 15 new presentations per day, and you'll pick up applications and checks from 3 or 4 of them on average. 75-100 presentations per week will result in 25-40 new sales. But only doing 10 presentations per week might result in just 1 or 2 sales.
AFLAC works best when you can get an employer to make payroll deductions available to their employees to pay the premiums. Employers are generally receptive to the idea, and if they are using a third-party payroll service, it's a nominal expense to set up the deductions. I wouldn't be surprises if AFLAC has something to reimburse the employer for the one time set-up expense (I can't say for sure, because I don't work for them).
Best of all success to you!

Thanks for your input ! I'm super excited; hope I have what it takes. I've been told there is a large market for it here in Alaska.
