I have been collecting unemployment in Maryland after leaving my last position. I have been in and out of the hospital with Kidney problems but still kept up with my work search. I applied for disability and recived it in three months due to my declining kidney function. Disability is aware that my only income has been unemployment. My question is should I now ( being I was deemed disabled stop my unemployment and apply for SSI immediatley. My other question is have I done anything wrong considering I was keepin up with my obligations to Unemployment although I had to ultimatley get the disability because the kidney condition went bad quickly?
Thanks for your help!

If you have been diagnosed with End Stage Renal Disease (ESRD), meaning you need kidney dialysis and perhaps a kidney transplant, then you can have a free pass into the Medicare system. You would still need to apply with the Social Security Administration for a disability benefit -- and that you may or may not be approved for.
Your disability and unemployment situation needs to be discussed with the state agency that handles unemployment insurance claims.
