What can I do when my employer keeps denying me part or all of my vacations? I know it's a benefit given to you by your employer, can they keep denying you without cause, just because they can? Especially when your job duties are not affected, meaning I'm responsible for the school section working with them directly. But the school will be closed on the dates I requested. How can they just out right deny me then lie and say on grievances its based on the needs of the facility? And especially when you are asked to request your time off 11 months in advance. I have a month a year noiw after 12 years and they will give me one of the weeks and deny the rest. I know I will win but the dates will have date will have been over with by time a grievance hearing is scheduled. Oh, keep in mind they don't give your vacation requests back right away.
And I break my weeks up throughout the year around the holidays, also again, most days the school is closed and I have a back up staff that fills in for me when I'm not there.
I don't get it other than they trying to throw their weight around.
Please advise, our union haven't had too much success in fighting this with their type of needs response.

This is in no way related to insurance and it's certainly not Auto Insurance where you posted.
Can they do it? Probably... read your employee handbook.
Other then that, you may want to post this on an employee/employer forum.

If your UNION is as worthless as you post, you just need to go to the federal Dept of Labor/Employee Benefits Security Administration ( www.dol.gov/ebsa ) and file a complaint.
