I was driving my dad's car and got into a minor accident, didn't know it had no insurance and now the other drivers Insurance company is coming after me to claim $2350+250 (for his totaled car)

Not sure whose fault it was, as we both have confliciting stories and i got no insurance to represent me, so his Ins. company is going to stand by him.

I want to fight back this claim and may be settle it for smaller amount in monthly payments. Not sure what to write in a letter. Anyone has sample letter or any advice how to handle this issue.
thanks in advance!

He knew... and if he let you drive the vehicle, then he allowed the vehicle to be used without having insurance.

Sounds like a plan. It might be easier to just talk to the adjuster handling the recovery. Tell them that your info differs, that you feel that they won't be able to prove their case, that you have no collectible insurance and no assets, etc. Argue your case but do it professionally. They may admit that they won't really be doing anything else about it. Or you could then offer to pay them a much lower full payment. Or you could tell them you'd make payments for a much lower amount.

They know if they pursue this in court that it would end up costing more then they would every collect and that they probably won't collect anything. But it might be better for you if you pay something in order to not have this hanging over your head for years.
