Leaking Pipe

When you say that the insurance will NOT cover water damage caused by a leaking pipe, does this mean they will not cover the repair of the plumbing that needs to be done? Or will they not cover the damages caused by the leaking pipe? Or will the claim be denied altogether because of the leaking pipe?

Not an auto insurance question.

They don't cover the pipe itself (wear and tear). The resulting water damage is usually covered. Resulting water damage it not the cost to get at a pipe if it's underground/in cement.

home owners insurance covers sudden and accidental loss, for a water leak to be covered it would have to be sudden ie, a fitting break, or a frozen pipe bursting. a slow leak over a long term causing damage usually isnt covered as that would typically be considered a prolonged exposure, maintainance, or wear and tear issue. depending on how the leak happened, depends on what and if its covered.

That is not to say that resulting water damage from a fitting breaking or from a frozen pipe is not covered.
