I have been driving car in america from the past 6 months.I rented a car for the first time,SO I do not know what to do when an accident occurs.
There was black ice on the roads so my car got skid and hit another car which is parked on the road side.
I cannot find anyone there so I went to the rental car office to tell them what happened so that they will take care of it.
I purchased full insurance for the rental car.
Now the rental car persons say that after you hit the car you left the place so we will not cover the insurance.
please suggest me what to tell the rental car person about this issue.
I cannot afford to pay to repair the car.

you need to get a copy of the insurance policy you purchased. who said it wasn't covered? the rental rep or their insurance adjuster? have them show you were it's not covered or excluded. don't just take someone's word that works at the counter selling rental units. You need to get the claims dept deny in writing specifically pointing out where in the policy stating it's not covered. doesn't sound right to me...need more details of the situation.
a few thoughts....if the car was unattended, did you leave a note? did you call the police? was it not safe to stay ie after hours, weather, cold? what were you expected to stay for if the other car was unattended? did you immediately report the loss to the rental company?

The rental representative said it wont be covered.
The other car was unattended so I tried to go to the rental car but on the way they called me and said I should be at the accident.
Yes I immediately reported the loss to the rental company.

is the rental rep an insurance adjuster or claim rep? if not, your getting the run around. I wouldn't pay them anything until I rec'd in writing how the loss isnt covered; specifically containing policy wording excluding the coverage.
you need to officially file the claim through the insurance company that issued the policy. they have to investigate and officially deny the claim pointing out the policy wording where it's not covered. get a copy of your policy, should be a phone number for claims somewhere.
if this is coming from a sales rep, you need to speak to management.
if you continue getting the run around, call the state insurance dept for further advice to proceed. please keep the forum posted on your progress.

Thanks for the Information.
The coverage is not my personal coverage,Its the coverage from rental car.
They charged $35 for one day which includes(liability, personal, rental car).
Now they say as you were not there when you hit the car,we will not cover the insurance.
As you said I will talk with the management,If not I will check the same with the state insurance dept.
