Looking for some help in dealing with the New Jersey DMV. I just got a letter saying my registration was suspended because I didn't provide insurance on my car while driving it, which isn't true.
In September I temp. moved to Pa, leaving my car parked in the driveway of my parent's house. During the time I was away, my policy ran out. I decided to leave it dead because I found a better, cheaper company. When I can back home, I registered with the new company and have been driving with them ever since. There was about 2 months were my car was uninsured, however it was not driven, stayed in the same place I parked it. I don't understand how I can be fined when I've always had my car insured while I was driving it. Do I need to inform the DMV if I am parking my car for a couple months and don't have it insured?
((Also, I've already checked NJ's DMV site and there's nothing about it, save for the min. requirements of the mandatory insurance for all drivable vehicles))
