when i make a payment to my policy, does that pay for the current month, or for the next month? I ask because i paid for my police in August, but was not able to make the payment in September. I had an accident, and paid the insurance up. The insurance company said i had no lack of coverage, but then said i was not going to be covered. what is the truth. would i have coverage or not?

Usually it's the the next month... they don't give you free coverage. But there is also usually a grace period (depending on state laws). If you don't pay within that grace period they honor the cancellation which is usually prior to the last day in that grace period.

That's probably why they said that the OP is still covered but is not going to be covered.
