I have private insurance but am now eligible for my employers insurance which is cheaper, but 6 months ago my private insurance severed my dental and vision into another one of their subsidieries plans and they say that I have to give them a 30 day written cancellation while my medical plan accepted the cancelation without a problem am I required to give them 30 days and will I be required to pay for the last 2 weeks and is that legal?

Well, I guess it's exactly the reason why we suggest you go through the insurance paperwork after you sign up. Go through the clauses and check if you have a 30-days free look period.
