my house is payed off in cash, i don't ow a loan on it. the hail damaged my roof, i filed a claim and the insurance said i need to fix the roof first in order to get the check.i had someone who knows about roofing tell me what i needed and i bought all the material needed for the roof. can i hire someone who know about roofing and have them do the work. will the insurance pay if they don't have a contracting license.?

A roofer can be great without a license. But the problem lies some where else. What would you do if there's further damage caused to the same roof and it turns out to be the roofer's fault? At that time, your insurer will deny your claim.
