I wrecked my car today. I am possibly going to need a rental car for the time being that mine is getting fixed. Is it fraud to put rental car reimbersment on my insurance after I wreck and before i file my claim so that i can have means of transportation.

Thanks!

well, you can add rental reimbursement to your policy at any time. nothing illegal about that.

but you're kidding yourself if you think an insurance company is foolish enough to not notice that you added rental coverage AFTER your accident. your rental claim will certainly be denied.

and if you try to fudge the dates, then yes, you can be charged with fraud. Absolutely!

Don't ever try fudging the dates. Insurance adjusters will easily track it down. If they have any doubts, it will be passed on for investigation, and then it will be hard for you to obtain anything out of your claim.
