If a irrevocable beneficiary was named on a life insurance p

My sister some how got my very ill and elderly mother to change her beneficiary to an irrecvocable beneficiary on her insurance policy that my mother has been paying on for years. My sister has been physically abusing my mother (elder abuse) reports have been made to Adult Protective Services and the Sheriffs department. Can this policy be challenged for a change in the beneficiary?
