Has your license been suspended for that period of time? I understand that you haven't had insurance since the DUI, but have you had your license? I doubt it, as filing the SR-22 was probably a condition of reinstating your driver's license. So, if you have not reinstated your driver's license, it's likely that you're going to have to get insurance and an SR-22 filing to do so.
Most states require that if you have an SR-22 filing requirement, you actually FILE the SR-22 for that period of time... usually at least a year. If you're looking for the idea that since the DUI has probably dropped off your Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) that you won't be whacked on your insurance for the drunk driving ticket, I don't think that's going to play.
Frankly, I would call your state's motor vehicle department and ask them for the particulars. They'll know.
