national backorder

I have an 06 Ford fusion; needs tie rods. Ford has a national backorder which means it could easily be 3 weeks before a part is available. In essence, I'm paying for a car that I can't (or shouldn't) be driving. I live in Buffalo - pothole city. My dealer says no imminent danger but that could change with one slight road bump. If my car becomes totally undriveable I can't get a loaner and they have no idea when the part(s) will become available. In essesence, I could be paying for a car that I can't drive. I can't believe that I have NO recourse and/or that other folks aren't jumping up and down screaming. Can I begin a class action suit against Ford or somehow make them liable -- enough to at least supply a loaner car at their expense should my car become totally undriveable. Please tell me your thoughts.
