Are you talking about opening an insurance AGENCY or an insurance COMPANY. Just a minor (read...HUGE) difference between the two. If you wanted to start up an insurance company, I hope you have a couple of hundred million in the bank.
I think you may have been referring to an insurance agency, hmmm?

Howard, again- I don't think you're talking about an insurance COMPANY. I think you're referring to an insurance AGENCY. Let's make sure we're on the same page and I don't want to appear patronizing.
Examples of insurance companies would be Allstate, State Farm, New York Life, Safeco, etc. Frankly, the ability to start an insurance company is beyond all but a select number of people on this planet. I literally mean hundred$ of million$ of dollar$ to fire up an insurer.
If, on the other hand, you want to start up an insurance agency, well, that happens all the time. If your just looking to sell insurance product, you can do that one. Plain, common folk like you and me do it every day. There's plenty of information out there in internet land that can get you started.
I guess the first question would be... do you have an insurance license? If so, in what state? That would allow me to point out the requirements in your state to get you started.
