I am trying to figure out what I should expect for a settlement from a car accident I had a few months ago. I will try to give a quick run down of the facts. I was hit from behind by a guy driving a commercial vehicle (plumbing truck). He apparently wasn't paying attention and was in a huge hurry. He hit me from behind and pushed me into the vehicle in front. My vehicle was totaled, all airbags deployed, he was found at fault and ticketed. I am done with my medical treatment at this time and my bills plus loss of wages total $12,000. ($6000 of that is ER bills alone.) Luckily, I have no permanent injuries. I do have pictures of myself covered in bruises and medical reports to back up my injuries. It has taken almost 2 months to feel good again. I am waiting to see what his insurance will offer for settlement but I have no idea what to expect. What is a reasonable amount is this case??
Thanks

You are entitled to 100% of the $12,000 in actual losses. Beyond that, you have to determine for yourself what the "pain and suffering" was worth. Certainly not $1,000,000 . . . not even $100,000. Maybe $5,000 to $10,000 tops, or a little more. No one here can really tell you what it's worth.
