I had my Military weekend, this past weekend. We had alot of driving to do with 'our' Military trucks. A new person was suppose to 'roadtest' with me. However..I found out he didin't have a valid DL to do this. He went up through our chain-of-command and told them I "refused to let him drive." Of course I did!! If he wrecked, it would be MY responsiblility, since i was the 'senior' person in the truck!! I guess I'm just venting here. My -chain-of-command was on MY side with this issue. Also..found out later that the new person DID, at one time, have a valid DL. However...it was taken from him!!

I'm sorry!! I DID mean to ask a question. If I DID let the young man drive, and we were in an accident, would the accident be MY fault (because I knew he didn't have a DL..) or HIS fault? When it's on the Miltary side of thinks, it's a whole different 'ballgame'.

I guess you'll have to look to the UCMJ for that answer. I would think the person who assigned the driver to the task would bear some responsibility. But ultimately, in military accidents not involving the public, no one is really responsible until hauled before a court martial. Knowing, as you did, that the individual was not qualified to drive, I'm sure you did nothing wrong.

Well..I've never seen anyone court martialed for an issue like this. However,..I HAVE seen accidents put on 'military records'. Another question for you (I guess I'm full of them!!..LOL) The place where I have my 'regular' car insurance..when they run my driving record information, do they see anything, concerning Miltary driving on it? I didn't know if the two were 'combined' in the same information. :?
