Does collision insurance cover hitting a fence post?

If I hit a fence post, will collision insurace cover the damage?

Yes, assuming you did not hit it intentionally, and you are talking about damage to your car. Collision will pay the amount exceeding your deductible, up to the actual cash value of your car..
