Can the ins co send out the s/a adjuster for 2nd opinion?

I requested a second adjuster to look at our roof for hail damage. The same adjuster showed up as the first time. Can they legally do that? What is the point in asking for a second opinion if they can?
If I cash the check they sent as a settlement do I have to make the repairs they listed?

If it's a question of damages (not coverage under the policy) then you can invoke the appraisal clause under your policy.

Other then that there is no obligation for the insurance company to have someone else inspect the damage just because you want them to. Why not simply have a repair company inspect the damage for you and give you their opinion on the matter?

No matter what the roofer says, just don't sign any contract in order to get an estimate from them. This is a big scam that happens to some folks. They sign a contract for $7500 (as an example), and the insurance company says, "OK, we'll pay $5000". Then the contractor nails you for the extra $2500 because you have a contract for that amount, and the insurance company may not pay the difference.
