Is an insurance company bound to cover an accident if they routinely accepted late payments on a policy, including accepting a payment the day of a loss?

As long as in the policy is in force and not in a cancellation or lapsed state the insurance company should be liable to cover the incident. This however can vary from company to company. What you need to do is look at your policy paperwork and read the underwriting guidelines to be sure. Also, check with you agent if you have one, they are the experts and are there to help you answer any insurance questions.

Ever notice that these type of situations almost always happen to the chronic late payers?
