I got into an accident about two days ago. I was hit by a car while I was making a U turn. The other car had green light. The police determined that it was my fault and gave a ticket. I have uninsured motorist property damage(UMPD) insurance from GEICO and I am from New OrleansI called my insurance company but they said they would not cover up my expenses for repairing the car doors which have been damaged from the collision since it is my fault. My question is does my insurance (UMPD) cover up my expenses or not? Is the insurance company simply trying to not pay me? If my insurance has to pay for the expenses, what should I do to get it?

UM coverage takes the place of someone else's insurance. So, would the other person's insurance have taken care of your loss? No. So UM would not either.
