Can anyone help me out regarding an insured who had his worker comp premium increased due to an audit? He advised the auditor that one of his employees (who was classifed per Scopes as a Executive) that the employee unlocked the job site each morning & discussed the job site progression with the onsite subs. Suddenly he was reclassified as a "carpenter." The insured is going to submit a request for a Hearing with the WC Panel but I'm curious if anyone is familiar with matters of this nature. It seems terribly unfair. The employee has never picked up so much as a hammer or nail gun! How can the auditor reclassify this employee as a carpenter when he spends 90 percent of his day in the office and attending meetings. Seems pretty unfair but I need to education on this. Thanks for any info you can provide.

Never heard of such a thing. Who filled out the audit paperwork? Normally, this is done by someone in the business and submitted to the company.
