The adjustor was willing to settle for my son,who is 14, at $1650.He has pain in hips ,knees (went into dash although he was belted in) shoulders. He still complains 2 mos later almost. My pain increased a wk. or so later. My neck pain & stifness didn't go away, then headaches started. My back would not stop having spasms & the pain was so horrible it is
waking Me constantly.I know my son needs PT & a chiropractor for me.We have no insurance & if i settle i will have cash to go to Dr..Claims rep said he would give me about $1800..Of course Im worried of course the amounts offered wont cover my medical expenses w the unknownissues & severity of pain. How can i get the offer higher?

I'm guessing that offer was based on your current medical treatment. You could ask the doctor to write a letter explaining your prognosis (the additional treatment you will need). You could then place a cost of that and added that in (as well as additional money on top of that treatment) or you could wait to rack up those bills and then have them considered. Keep in mind that there is a Statute of Limitations that you need to consider. You'd need to file suit before that time is up in order to protect your right to collect.

Also, you can always ask for more money. The initial offer is usually low. It's the same way when buying a car. Would you offer the sales person the top dollar you'd pay initially?
