You're not looking for a "generic letter;:" you need a claim form provided by the carrier along with the death certificate.

Did you speak directly with the insurance company or with an agent? What is the name of the insurer? I know of NO life insurance companies that DON'T have specific claim forms, but i certainly don't know everything!

Not sure what this means, and now- I'm not sure of even what kind of policy it was. Was this taken out as a "credit life insurance" policy through your lender?
