Call your lien holder? Just a wild guess... but I'd start there.

I have called the lien holder. This is what happened. someone backed into my car. A hit and run. My insurance wrote a check for repairs. I told them I was going to have a friend do the work, they sent check to the lienholder and said no matter what the cost was, they did their part now its up to lienholder to what they do with the check. What I had the work done for was a lot less then what the check is for. I sent them pictures that the car is repaired, they still want to give me a hard time and wont send me the check. What can I do about this? All help greatly appreciated.

Give you a hard time as in....? What is the reason they are giving for not sending the check?

they said because there is a substantial amount of difference that they needed to check with the ins. co. I talked to the ins. man and he said he told them he had nothing else to do with it. Its about a $600 difference because most of that amount was for labor that I didnt have to pay out.The sad thing is, if I had lied and said my friend did the repairs and sent them a reciept close to the amount of the check, I wouldnt be dealing with this.

The lien holder wants to make sure that the car was repaired as they have a legal interest in it. What they don't want is some cosmetic work to be done and you to pocket the difference. I understand that was not done but this is what they are checking on. Call the lien holder and get a time frame for them to obtain the info they need. Ask them what they are looking for and see if you can push this along. If they need something from the carrier, call the carrier and see if you can get it. If the adjuster won't help, go to a supervisor. Check in with these people after a short, reasonable amount of time. Don't be rude but send the message that it would be easier for them to drop everything and do this rather then have you speak to them all of the time.
