Okay 4-way stop signs. Sitting heading east, other driver heading west. we both proceed through the intersection heading towards each other, then he turns in front of me and I end up clipping his back truck bumper ripping off most of my front rt bumper.

I can't be sure who got to the intersection first, there had been south and north bound cars prior to us. Can't be sure who actually started to proceed into the intersection first.

I know he did not have his turn signal on.

Who would be at fault? He did state that he tried to speed up to get out of my way and all I remember is all of a sudden he was in front of me! Would this be a 50/50 thing??

HELP my very first accident.

Really depends on the two drivers statement and more details. What I can tell you is that only one person should have been in the intersection at a time. So when one person saw the other move, they should have stopped. Accident avoided.

What you have going against you is the point of impact to the other vehicle being in the rear. the further back the worse for you. It indicates that the other person was able to enter the intersection completely and also cross over your lane of traffic before you got to where he was. This indicates that he was in the intersection much longer then you were. Ergo, you entered after him. Also, you had the last clear chance to avoid the accident as he had enough time to almost pass by you when he was hit.

I _think_ the carriers are either going to place 100% against you or around 80% against you.

There is simply no reason why an accident should happen at a 4 way stop. Only 1 car should be in the intersection at a time. It's easy to see when you pull forward if another vehicle is pulling forward. If you see this, you stop. It's that easy and if done, an accident will never happen.Yielding to someone who was there after you only adds about 5 seconds onto your trip.
