Can a convicted felon with a aggravated assault charge in 2002 obtain a license to sell life, health and accident insurance?

I was caught at age 19 with a small amount of heroin resulting in a B felony and trespassing/ shoplifting (all at the same time). I was 19 and a drug addict at the time, but have worked hard to complete all probation, continue to see an addiction therapist and have been clean ever since. I have been hired by a life insurance agency and hope to be able to take the test. I am now 25 and living in LA (the charges were in Oregon), and my life is nothing like what to was. I truly am reformed and am hoping this will be taken into consideration, but since I need FBI clearance I would like to know before buying/taking the test. I have doctors and family that will testify to my recovery. I feel like a youthful mistake is ruining the rest of my life (I have a BA, but can't use it)...

Usually, licensing petitions are not rejected based on misdemeanor or felony charges. Still, discuss with the state department of insurance before you submit your claim. (A strict note)

Help....I was convicted of auto theft with priors in 2003. I am currently entertaining the thought of selling Life insurance. I reside in SouthCarolina and I hear that I will need a waiver form inorder to proceed with selling insurance.
Do these laws change from state to state? what chance do I have of getting a waiver form granted?

I dont have any felonies, ever. I went through a horrible divorce from an abusive husband and he cleaned me out. Ended up having to file bankruptcy because he did and I couldn't be held responsible for ALL of the debt. That was final 2 1/2 years ago. I had a returned check that I went to court on but it was dismissed (during my finanicial trouble) and I had to go to court for furniture that I had to return because I couldn't pay. I'm a single mother of three who gets child support. So, anyway. It seems like alot but it was all while i was doing the best I could to get through the divorce that took two years and take care of my children. I am taking my insurance exam this weekend. Am I going to be denied by the SEC or will i have to write a letter explaining the situation?

I meant to say I get NO child support!

Personal bankruptcy is a disclosure event. You will need to submit a copy of the final discharge. It should not interfere with your licensing unless you choose not to disclose the matter.

Is there any state that will license a sex-offender to work for a car dealership to sell cars?

NO, this is a federal law which the states must observe. Your crime is squarely in the center of the law's target, and you are unlikely to obtain a waiver. The decision, however, is made on a case-by-case basis, as well as on a state-by-state basis.
