They are suppose to pay part of my medical insurance and I pay the rest. They have not asked for any payments so they have been paying it all. I am still employed with them can they cancel my medical insurance?

If you are on unpaid leave under the federal Family And Medical Leave Act (FMLA), your employer must continue the health insurance under the same terms as when you were at work (if you normally paid a portion, you must still pay a portion). If your employer fails to invoice you or notify you of the payment procedure for your share, it may not terminate your coverage.

If your disability is the result of a Workers' Comp claim, your state's Workers' Comp laws may provide a different remedy, and that might mean your employer pays the full cost of your health insurance in some states.

To be sure, you should, however, contact your HR department and determine what your responsibility is. If you need to pay past due premiums, it's better to get a handle on it before they overwhelm you.
