i insured my car last month of the 21st december 2011. the company took two payments out. which we can prove with the bank. and a policy number we have.
we haven't yet had any paper work through yet so we phoned to find out what had happened.
they told us that there was no trace of out policy on their system and are telling us that they have have not taken any money, yet we can prove they have with the bank.
i have been driving around with my daughter in the car with no insurance which has upset me very much. i am now at risk of loosing my job as i need my car for work!
where do i stand??

I would call your insurance company again, and give them the policy number. If they still can't confirm your coverage, contact your bank, find out the details of the payments taken out: the date drafted, policy number & the name of the company to which the payment was made, then call your insurance company again. Ask to speak to a supervisor, if they still can't confirm your coverage.

I assume you don't have an agent to help you?

If you can prove the company was paid, but they still say your don't have insurance, file a complaint with your state's department of insurance.

In case you purchased your insurance policy through an agent, call the agent first before calling the company. How did you purchase the policy? Did you go straight to the company office or did you buy it off the Internet? After you had signed on the policy, did they mention anything about giving you a temporary ‘proof of insurance’ card?

Gather all the necessary information Robert742 has asked you to and try calling the company again. If they don’t respond favorably, contact the state’s department of insurance.
