I recently had an accident while driving my brother's car. Whose insurance will cover it? Is police complaint needed to be filed in order to have the claim covered when the fault is not mine?

Your brother's insurance will cover the damage caused to the vehicle in this case, and your injuries, if any, shall be covered by your own insurance. As far as lodging a police complaint is concerned, you must lodge it when your vehicle is stolen. Otherwise, for the purpose of recognition of a claim, the insurance company will carry out its own investigation of the vehicle and find the extent of damage and its liability.
