I currently have insureance through my employer, however it is unafordable. Because I have a low income, I'm eligible for State Medical Benefits. How can I cancel my insurance with my employer now that I dont need it?

Contact the HR department of your organization and inform them that you wish to drop your group coverage.

Before you do that, be sure that cancelling your group insurance will not disqualify you for the state insurance plan. Such programs might not cover you for 6 months or longer if you could have been covered by an employer-sponsored plan instead.
Don't cancel your employer sponsored insurance until you have other coverage, or you could wind up being completely uninsured. That would be worse than your current situation.

Hello...
I do not know if you could get Medicaid if your employer did offer insurance at an unaffordable rate, but it does not matter, for the same reason as it does not matter whether you could get Medicaid if Santa Claus was to offer to give you health insurance for Christmas, because neither of those things has happened. Your employer offers insurance at an affordable rate, and much more affordable than most employers do.
Thanks,
Delfina

On what basis can you make that statement? Nothing has been said about the cost other than the OP believes, for him/her it is "unaffordable". We don't know what his personal expenses are, what his income is other than he/she says it is "low."
We have to take those facts as true until someone proves them wrong. Be careful that your posts are not made recklessly. As far as I can tell, you are not even a CA licensed insurance agent. If I'm wrong, please correct me.
