If you are a professional caterer, you can obtain a Commercial General Liability policy through a local agent or broker. If you are doing this as a one-time occasion to save money, you should be covered by your homeowner's insurance, but you would probably want to add an umbrella liability policy, just in case.

If you currently have auto and home insurance and purchased it from a insurance agent this should be your first contact. If your agent does not handle this type of insurance the agent may refer you to another agent that does know how to handle this type of insurance. Otherwise, check with friends or relatives who may be able to recommend a reputable insurance agent in your locale. Also, if someone is requiring proof of insurance because you want to use their facility, for the wedding, be sure to show the insurance agent the written agreement requiring the insurance. :)
