I have a scooter in Florida. Got it from my son. It's kept in our garage, buried out of sight. I don't get tag or registration each year. Do I have to get insurance to cover it? I would think as long as we don't use it, the answer would be no. Just curious. We do hold the title on it.

If you are not operating the vehicle it does not have to be insured. Any reason you are allowing it to take up space in your garage instead of selling it?

Well, with gas prices continuing to climb, we may make it operational soon. It's a great scooter. With the climb in fuel prices, we may both be riding scooters soon!!!

At that point, then, insurance will be necessary. So, too, will vehicle registration fees.
