accident involving pedestrian

A 10yo boy ran out from behind a parked car and went over the bonnet, thankfully no injury to himself, but I need a new bonnet and my insurance company won't help without me claiming. Can this really be the case as even the police agreed we we're not to blame? Please haelp!!!

Based on your vocabulary, you have some British in your past, or you are in England (or possibly India). Bonnet = hood, if I'm not mistaken.

In the US, such a claim would be paid by the parent's homeowner's/renter's insurance policy, if there is one, as a personal liability claim (the policy covers all members of the household for their negligent acts).

If you are not in the US, this may or may not be true about your country's insurance policies. Check with your agent about whether this kind of coverage exists where you are.
