I own a small business. My employee was involved in an accident with a trailer, while he was carrying our products and damaged my car. My insurer is denying liability coverage for the incident, saying he was not registered. How can they do so? What are my options now?

Does your policy state that it will not provide coverage for anyone not listed on the policy? If so, that is how. Insurance companies collect premium based on risk. Anyone driving your vehicle's can add a higher risk, for example they could have a terrible time not hitting other vehicles, so the insurance company will sometimes add a sur-charge onto the policy for this added risk. You are responsible for reading your policy and understanding this as it's a legally binding contract.

With that said, you can always file suit against your insurance company to see if the court will uphold the denial.

Does the driver have his own insurance? Sometimes they will extend liability coverage if no other coverage.
