Auto insurance claim in no fault state

Just got hit in the parking lot some 2 days ago. Minor scratches and a dent in the right back side door. Though the other party was at fault, I am not sure about what to do. This is in Michigan, a no fault state. I have heard that no-fault doesn't apply in collision situations. Will my insurance rates go up if I file a claim? Shall I file claim with their insurance company or mine?

No fault does apply in MI. If I recall correctly, you file under your own policy and can only collect your deductible from the other party. I'm not sure if it affects your rates. I highly doubt it though.

If you don't have collision coverage then you can only collect something like $500 from the other carrier.
