To claim or not to claim

I will be moving out of state permanently within a few weeks. I may sell my car and so won't even need auto insurance there. However, I got into an accident 2 days back, and damaged my neighbour's car. Should I make the claim with Progressive now, or pay it on my own? I presume that later on this claim might affect my rates (i.e. if I get a new car later on), which I'm trying to avoid.

Even if you don't make a claim, it could still affect your future rates if the other party files a report with the DMV concerning the collision.

You paid for the insurance, why avoid submitting the claim. You could be surprised when your rates are unaffected in the future. What would you have lost by not filing the claim?
