auto insurance claim check

Hi,
I'm waiting on an insurance claim check. I do have a lien, will need them to endorse. First,.is there a way to rush it? I opted for an independent estimate. Minor fender bender, now brakes are making noise suddenly. Second, once check is cashed, may I use some towards rental deposit? I know insurance covers most of car rental. They usually require a credit to hold funds.
Thanks Lp

If your lender endorses and returns the check to you, you may do with it as you please. However, your loan contract may obligate you keep the vehicle in working order, and not repairing insured damage could void your policy.

Thanks so much for your quick reply. I'm definitely getting it fixed. I'm not yet sure even how much they're giving me. I was unprepared for this. I'm using most/all towards deductible. I'm told if more damage is revealed once bumper is removed, supplemental insurance is designed to cover that. I Hope! Do you happen to know if they ever rush it if car is not safe? I chose the shop (the place they sent me to was shady) I had no intention of using them. The shop knows im getting a check, they may start the work. Do you think the insurance can expedite the rental right away if needed? Thanks again

That won't work! Your deductible is the portion of a claim for which you are personally responsible. The insurance money pays for the cost of repair or other claims covered by your contract.

supplemental insurance is designed to cover that.

Who told you this? There is no "supplemental" insurance in auto insurance. Hidden damage is simply covered as part of the total claim. What may have been said is that a supplemental/additional claim would need to be filed.

Do you think the insurance can expedite the rental right away if needed?

Only if you have rental coverage as part of your contract. The rental coverage is usually not more than $30 per day for up to 30 days. You can arrange your own rental and submit a claim. But you have to know what the language of your contract says about this.

Definitely not ideal! I know I'm responsible for the deductible. I was in need of some time to get finances in order. It's been driving fine, until brake or metal grinding sound started.I mispoke, it is an additional claim. You're correct. They gave me the idea, probably not their intention. I hadn't gone for estimate yet. They called to follow up, 'We want to get a check out to you '. I was told it saves them money to just cut you a check. They said fix it when you can. We issue a new check after certain amount of time,if it voids.
I didn't want someone coming to me,I've been told they'll low ball the estimate.

In terms of rental coverage, I have 25 a day for 10 days I believe. If the rental I get is slightly over, that's fine. They said no credit card deposit is required. Amazingly I've had very few accidents, certainly not serious. I don't have much experience w/ insurance, rental rates etc. Thanks again. I Hope if needed the additional will cover it.
