How long does a insurance co. have to investigate a claim?

I was told it was 90 days, does anyone know what the rules are for investigating claims?
If it matters, im in NJ.

How long it takes depends on the claim itself (what kind of claim, what happened, etc.). Every claim is different. A simply 1 car auto accident might take an hour. A complex manufacture defect claim might take months.

There is no steadfast rule. It completely depends on the intensity of the damage.
