I’ve just started driving and you can call me an amateur driver. It’s my wife’s car that I drive. I do have a license and my name is included in her policy. Yesterday, it was quite foggy and the visibility was almost zero, and for that I was driving very slow. Suddenly my car hit a pothole and got some serious damages in the bumpers and fenders. I also experienced some injuries but they are not so serious. My question is that would the insurance provider offer coverage for the damages or decline by saying that I am a novice driver and the fault was mine. Btw, I’m in New Orleans.

As long as your car is insured, then practically you should be offered coverage. Only if you've lapsed on your premium can there possibly be a problem.

If you have collision coverage on the vehicle and you are a listed driver, they would provide coverage. They know your driving record and they collect a premium based on this. That is why younger drivers pay more.
