PIP or Bodily Injury Protection?

Hi Experts! Could anybody tell me the difference between Personal Injury Protection (PIP) and Bodily Injury Protection? I did some research and came to know that PIP covers the medical expenses of the insured along with others in the same vehicle and also the people who are injured in the accident. On the other hand, Bodily Injury Protection only provides coverage for injury to people other than the insured. Am I correct? If yes, then PIP is better than BI. If not, what is the actual scenario?

Yes.

They are two completely different things so one cannot be "better" then the other. PIP addresses the insured's own injury in an accident regardless of fault. BI addresses the insured's liability to others when he/she causes injury to that other person.
