My neck and car were injured Gieco fixed my car and offered $750 to close my injury case. MD said it was probably a strain or sprain and should heal within a month or two. I I told geico I would accept the offer but not cash the check until my neck stops hurting . I'm still in pain and want to reopen my claim so that I can have diagnostic tests performed and treatment. Geico says that I made a verbal agreement to close the case. I was under the impression tat if I didn't sign anything including the check, I could still reopen the case?

You'd be correct. If you did not cash the check or sign a release, you have not settled.
Though, I find it odd that someone would ask for payment with no intention of settling at the time. But I also find it odd that GEICO would even mail out an injury check without a release. So regardless, the bad is on them.
Tell GEICO you never had a verbal agreement and verbal agreements (especially disputed ones) don't stand up in court.

Send the check back to GEICO with a letter of explanation that your injury claim is still open pending medical evaluation, diagnosis, and prognosis for recovery.
