A Drunken College Kid damaged my car.

I was inside of my car in the parking lot. There was a drunken college kid jumped on the engine hood of my car, and made two huge cavities. He was trying to run away, and I had to call the police. Finally they got him, and he in the jail right now. I just bought my car, its bran-new car, only has 50 miles on it. The estimate came today, it is 1500dollar totally, and I have to pay deductive for 500 dollars. I was wondering if there are any possible ways to get the kid/his insurance company to pay these 500 dollars? This was not my fault at all. I have nothing to do with this damage. So what should I do? I think the kid is responsible for this, but what if he refuses to pay for it? Should I sue him?

Your carrier obtained your right of recovery so they should pursue the kid (if he's in jail he's probably over 18). If he has a liability policy (such as a home owners policy or renters policy) then they address your loss. However, I doubt he has insurance. If he's living with his parents then they policy might address it. If your carrier won't file suit against the kid then, with their permission, you can file suit. What you will get is a nice piece of paper called a judgement. You'd then need to file a Writ to have it attached to something this kid owns or, in some states, you can garnish his wages.
