Pedestrian hit by Uninsured Dricer

Soooo, to make a long story short, the accident happened on private property in Dallas, Texas. I was in the parking lot of my apartments walking my dog when a Porsche SUV comes around the corner and hits me. I spun and fell on the concrete.Police and the ambulance were called. Before they arrived, the driver got out and said he was looking the other way and didn't see me. He also said there was no insurance on the car. He offered me $1000 on the spot ( all of this on front of my neighbors) but I told him no. I was able to get up and walk away(thank God) so i decided not to ho to the hospital. That night my hips back, arm and neck hurt so bad. I got up the next morning and found a chiropractor who later informed me that my spine was shifted, which was putting pressure on my tailbone, and needed to get an MRI. He also informed me something I already knew which was that it was expensive. I told him I would request a police report. I also located a lawyer . My lawyer requested the police report first and it took almost 4 weeks for them to get this back. Once received, I was told that it wasn't a police report filed only an incident report (which is the dumbest thing Ive ever heard in a situation like this) so only my information was on there. Here's the kicker: I left a note on the truck because of course he lives in my condos. I asked them to call me to discuss everything. The wife calls me back saying they weren't responsible. She said it was her mechanic that hit me and she has no way to contact him. She said her dad is an attorney and he said they have no fault. Now my dad is a police officer but I didn't tell her. So i had my neighbor take a picture of his license plate, and had my dad run the plates. Like the man said, he didn't have insurance.

I'm not looking to get rich ( especially not in civil claims court), but I do believe people should be held responsible for their actions, as well as the pain and suffering. I was just walking my dog.

Here are the questions: How do I handle this?

Is the police department at fault for not filing an actual police report? I mean the guy didn't have insurance and he hit a pedestrian and admitted to not looking.

I can answer that question and I don't even need to type the answer...

I also located a lawyer.

And there you have it.

Your chiropractor's testimony is likely to have very little credibility in court, because he is not truly considered a "medical expert". The fact that you apparently have never seen an MD for your injuries does not bode well for your case, but doesn't mean you aren't entitled to collect for your damages.

Your attorney will explain all this to you. In Texas, many of them take 40% or more of your settlement, so let yours earn that fee by actually having to spend time talking to you. We get about $0.10.
