Loss due to attack by Squirrel

A squirrel broke into my vehicle and ate up a considerable amount of the leather upholstery (of the seats). My manager said I won’t get coverage for this since this was not an accident. But I feel it should be covered as it was direct and an accidental loss and should not be excluded under the CA auto insurance law. What does the actual law say? Thanks.

DId you have a discussion with the squirrel before hand and come up with a plan on how he was going to break into your car and damage the seats? Did you place squirrel attractant all over the interior of the car? If not, then it's an "accident" (it's was not, nor should it have been foreseen.

It should be covered under the comprehensive coverage of your policy.

What is your manager's CA insurance license number?

I find your statement "A squirrel broke into my vehicle" rather amusing. Did he break a window, or force a door open? Could it be that you inadvertently locked the squirrel in your vehicle?

Whatever the reason, your loss -- less the deductible -- should be covered by your comprehensive/other than collision coverage if you have it.

On the other hand, if you and the squirrel conspired . . .

I was going to ask if there was a moose standing behind him saying, "Hurry up Rocky!"
