FAILED INSPECTION DUE TO DAMAGE IN ACCIDENT - NOT MY FAULT

I was side-swiped on a highway in the beginning of March. Other drivers' insurance has taken on full responsibility. Took car to collision center and said it was driveable even with right front wheel damage and body damage. I went to get car inspected yesterday at my dealership and they failed it due to a bubble found in the right front tire and also a small marker light that is out on the right front. It was documented by the service manager and their master mechanic that it is due to the accident.

Now, my issue here is that I am going to the collision center where the car is getting fixed tomorrow to get this taken care of. The car is not scheduled to be in the shop to get repaired until April 8th. All the car needs is a new tire, marker light and for it to be re-inspected (of course I am not paying for any of it, for I already paid for the inspection and it failed due to the accident). It needs to be done tomorrow so I can be on my way and bring the car back next Tuesday for it's original drop-off date. Also that these new damages be added to the estimate INCLUDING THE INSPECTION!

Do you see any issues with this? According to the service manager, they did a wheel test and it shows the bubble was due to the impact as well as the light not working. He also told me that if the collision center is far, he wouldn't chance driving it and having it towed. Collision center is not that far so I will be driving carefully tomorrow morning. I cannot see the insurance company giving me a rental for almost 2 weeks when the repairs can be done tomorrow along with the inspection.

Any thoughts?

I'll be brief... the tire being damaged from the accident should be addressed by the insurance company. You _choosing_ to take the car in right after the accident happened and therefore failing the inspection is 100% on _you_.

Why did you need to take the vehicle in for a safety inspection when you did? If the wheel was damaged and the side light out, did you not realize that it would not pass? I'm pretty sure they make it public knowledge what is inspected in a safety inspection.

Bottom line, you choosing to take it in to have a safety inspection right after the accident is not the fault of the person that hit you. How much is an inspection, $20? Do they not reinspect it for free if you fail the first time?

You can feel free to ask the adjuster to pay for the failed inspection. If I were that adjuster I'd say know and have you spend $100 to file suit for that cost.
