The settlement check I received from the auto insurance company was made out to me and my health insurer as it was named at the time of the accident. My health insurer placed a lien on my settlement amount shortly after my accident, and then got bought by another company. They never responded to the auto insurance adjuster when he tried to correct the name on the check initially, so the adjuster simply mailed this check to me made out to the 'old' name of the company as well as me. I know I need the endorsement of the other named party on this check, but a) they don't do business by this name and b) I have been unsuccessful contacting them. What is the right next step for me?

Well, I think you sort of have things backwards. If the health insurance company has a lien on your claims payment, they're the one who needs YOUR endorsement on the check so they can deposit it.
You can always find out the contact information for any insurance company through your state Dept of Insurance, including when one company is bought by/merges with another.
