1983 Oldsmobile Cutlass Cruiser Wagon had electric short in the switch for power seat. The resulting smoke damage requires replacement of the interior, and also the battery.
A car of the same specifications was located advertised for $15000, and it was the only advertisement over a period of 2 months search.
State Farm is using smaller cars for comparison, and offering $2600 as a total loss. I have informed them that I intend to repair the car ($9000) and continue using it.' and am not getting anywhere.
How should I proceed? I have declined arbitration.

It is typical for a car insurance company to choose to total out a car when the cost to repair it exceeds the replacement value and that is well within their rights as far as I am aware. If you feel that the amount they are appraising your car for is inaccurate I would recommend checking out the different car pricing databases as there are several out there. Keep in mind that just because someone lists a car at a certain price does not make it the value. If you still feel strongly that they did not pay enough you can seek out an actual car appraiser and have them put together a report for you indicating what they feel the market value for your car is.
