Two questions (1) Does Florida law require me to carry liability insurance as a sub-contractor (non LLC and non-corporate) ? A contractor hired me to clean carpets as a 1099, with out any contract. The contractor has a contract with the store I cleaned and liability insurance. Shouldn't the contractors liability company pay for any claims since I did not have a contract with the contractor who hired me? I had worked for them for 7 yrs and they never asked me to prove I had liability insurance.

No

They may pay... to protect their insured. But they won't address any possible liability you may have. Not having insurance does not mean you can't be liable for a loss. It just means that you need to address the situation yourself.
