Our Toy Hauler was a total loss, we knew it as soon as it flipped over. The problem is the was the claim is being handled. The insurer uses Mitchell valuation. It sets a price for our camper, then gives us 2 comparison camper prices. The way it is supposed to work it the comparison camper has a NADA Value, then from that value, Mitchell subtracts options that our totaled camper does not have. For example they subtracted $800 for Diamond Plate, $3200 for a Generator and so on. The issue is, our camper has those same options and some that the comparison campers do not. So, I sent them a side by side comparison of options for my toy hauler and their toy hauler, so they could add the options back on and allow for the options we have and the comparison doesn't. I also sent them a copy of a local ad for an identical Toy Hauler sold the same month as the wreck and an email from the the very reputable dealer stating how much it sold for and another ad for an identical camper that is currently for sale.
It's been a week and I've heard nothing. No phone calls or emails no requests for information, nothing. The insurer doesn't negotiate, They send the valuation, you go over it, email back your response, they send it to Mitchell and then it goes back to the insurer. Through this entire process, unless I call them, I hear nothing. The accident was Aug 7th and they didn't appraise the camper until Aug 25th.
Can you guide me through this process? Our truck was insured through a different agency and we went back and forth for a couple of days, then we settled and they sent us a check in less than 3 weeks from the day of the accident. I'm at a loss, no pun intended.

File a complaint with your state's insurance regulator -- the Texas Dept of Insurance -- alleging "unfair claims practices." If that doesn't work, you'll need to find an attorney.
